Great to see the 4's out again

Healthy Mix of Youth and Experience Just Falls Short

For the first ten minutes of the match the Sandbach pack lead by Chris Dolan had Trafford pushed back in their own half, and for some time Sandbach were camped on Trafford’s line. The stalemate was broken when Captain Tim Jones kicked through and followed it up and ran through the Trafford backs to score.

20 minutes into the match Sandbach increased their lead when Olly O’Neil scored in the right-hand corner of the pitch after a great passage of play. Sandbach created a two man overlap and put Olly into the corner. He then went on to kick the conversion to take the score to 12-0

Tim Jones second try came after Sandbach put Trafford under a great deal of pressure a penalty was awarded on Trafford’s 5-meter line and Tim dived over to score. Again, Olly converted the try to take the score to 19-0

The play stopped going Sandbach’s way and after a series of penalties Trafford were similarly awarded a penalty on Sandbach’s 5 metre line from which they scored a converted try.

Shortly afterwards on the stroke of half time, one of the Sandbach back row was sin binned for offside offences.
At half time Tim made several changes bring on Freddie Galle and Rico Hughes, and for the first ten minutes they had to re-jig the pack with the absence of a back row player.

Trafford started the second half like a changed team they kicked through and then were allowed by Sandbach to crash through and score another converted try, now Sandbach had a game on their hands being only one try ahead.

Things got even worse for Sandbach when Rico Hughes was also sin binned taking them down to 13 men. Their heads went down, and Trafford’s prop was able to cleave a way through the defence for another converted try. Putting Sandbach behind for the first time in the game.

Sandbach sustained a couple of injuries which did not help their cause and Trafford increased their score again. When they put Sandbach under pressure again they scored with an overlap on the right wing to make the score 19-33.

With Sandbach back to 15 men and players in the correct positions they rallied. From a free kick in Trafford’s 22m Tim Jones went over for his third and final try of his match as he then had to retire injured.

Johnnie Morris crossed the whitewash for the final time for a converted try right on the final whistle.

A great performance by the 4th team especially the young colts who made a great impact on the game, they can work on this result for their next game in two weeks’ time.
