Following a good win on the road in the forests of Nottingham last weekend, Sandbach return to Bradwall Road to welcome Peterborough Lions, as the season comes to the closing stages. The Lions who have always been a difficult side to beat, since Sandbach first came across them in 2014, with that ability eventually resulting in them being promoted from the Midlands Premier in 2018. Unfortunately, the Lions only managed the one season at National 2, finding it tough going against the well-established clubs at that level. Since being relegated they have lost a lot of players and struggled to recruit, resulting in last weekend confirming their demise again this season. Their performances have certainly improved over the term though, as reinforcements have arrived. So Sandbach need to be wary of a potential banana skin, as the Lions no doubt will be looking to build momentum, to bounce straight back next campaign.
Sandbach will be in good spirits following a couple of decent performances, where they have gained a full five points in each, despite picking up a couple of injury’s last time out. However last weekend also saw Sandbach’s strength in depth, as a few were missing due to work and existing commitments. So Sandbach do have back up if required. Following this Saturday, Sandbach have a fortnight off as a result of South Leicester dropping out of the league, so they will be keen to ensure they go into the break in good spirits, as any slip ups would give them a long time to make amends.
