Sandbach welcome North Ribblesdale for their first ever visit to Bradwall Road on Saturday, for what will be a top of the table clash. League leaders North Ribb will be fancying their chances, having won the corresponding fixture up in Settle by 20 points to 7 back in November last year, spoiling a five-game winning run for the Bach. Sandbach though are yet to be beaten at home this season and with points vital for both club’s possible promotion aspirations, a hard-fought game is anticipated.
With first playing second, Sandbach could potentially narrow the gap to two points but know they will need to be at their best. With Vale of Lune currently sitting just two points behind them and Burnage seven points, they realise a slip up could be problematic, should it come to a playoff situation and the importance of gaining home advantage.
Led by the experienced player coach Tom Davidson, North Ribblesdale have a good all-round game, which should ensure an entertaining game for what is expected to be a good home crowd. Up in Yorkshire Sandbach experienced a vocal partisan home crowd and though this would be welcomed, it must be remembered to ensure we respect the referee and supporting officials from both clubs and the true spirit of rugby prevails, whatever the outcome.
Let’s all look forward to hopefully some decent weather, enjoyable rugby and that traditional special Bach atmosphere.
