SANDBACH RUGBY CLUB NAME NEW CLUB CAPTAIN AND 1ST XV CAPTAIN

Bach announce their new Club Captain and Team Captains for the season.
Sandbach Rugby Club are delighted to announce their new club captain and 1st XV captain for the new season.
Max Beadle, who has played for the club throughout the mini and junior age groups, has been named as the new club captain. The prop is a first team regular and is well respected throughout the club.
Speaking about his new role, Max said:
“I’m hugely proud to be named club captain of Sandbach Rugby Club.
“This place has been home to me since I first pulled on a shirt at eight years old, and for almost twenty years it’s given me friendships, memories, and opportunities I’ll always treasure.
“Now it’s my turn to give back, and I couldn’t be more excited to take on this role.”
Laurie Essenhigh has been named as the 1st XV captain for the 2025/26 season. Laurie, who plays at scum-half and is also a senior coach at the club, went on a short loan in February to Caldy for their Premiership Cup clash against Newcastle Falcons. He is known for his quick thinking and darting runs and will lead the team on the pitch by example. He joined the club in 2021.
Commenting on the announcement, Laurie said:
“I am both very proud and looking forward to leading the boys for the season ahead.
“There is some serious talent coming through and I can guarantee a proper showcase rugby at Bradwall Road.”
As the new season begins, both players will bring fresh energy to their roles, which will have a positive impact on and off the field.
Sandbach kick off their Regional 2 North West Division campaign on Saturday away to Burnage.
Sandbach RUFC are further delighted to appoint Ant Dowell and Jake Jackson as the 2nd XV Co-Captains for the 2025/26 season.
Two fantastic lads who epitomise everything that is good about our club and will do a fantastic job in bringing through the next generation. Two brilliant players in their own right who will push the standards of those around them whilst also pushing for 1st XV selection.
Commenting on their appointment, Ant and Jake said:
"We are proud to be named captains of the second team- with so many young and talented players coming through from the colts, we are excited to help them develop and to see what we can achieve together."
For the 3rd XV team, Cam Donald and Connor Radcliffe have been selected as Co-Captains for the new season.
Both Cam and Connor are very much B4L and have done a fantastic job in guiding the team at the end of last season. Two lads who always put in a big shift in on the paddock and we're looking forward to seeing how they go with a fresh look 3s this season.
Cam and Connor said:
"We're both buzzing to be announced as Co-Captains this season and can't wait for the season to start. If anyone is seeing this and is thinking about getting back into rugby, give one of us a shout, we're always looking to add to the squad!"
