LooseHeadz will host 24/7s, an extraordinary 24-hour rugby sevens challenge, at Sandbach Rugby Club from 12 noon on Friday 24 July until 4pm on Saturday 25 July 2026.

Throughout the challenge, two rugby sevens matches- one men’s and one women’s- will be played simultaneously and continuously for more than 24 hours. Players, team managers, match officials, medical professionals, independent witnesses, volunteers and event staff will work in shifts throughout the day and night as the teams attempt to make sporting history.

The event aims to raise £100,000 for LooseHeadz and its work supporting better mental health within rugby clubs and communities. An incredible £45,000 has already been raised, but there is still a long way to go to reach the final target.

The challenge is supported by LooseHeadz ambassadors George Kruis, Samantha Phillips and Ollie Phillips, who share the charity’s commitment to tackling the stigma surrounding mental health and helping rugby communities provide better support.

An enormous amount of work has gone into organising 24/7s. LooseHeadz, Sandbach RUFC, volunteers, medical teams, match officials, suppliers and supporters have spent months planning every part of the event, including player welfare, safeguarding, medical provision, match scheduling, overnight staffing, floodlighting, security, accommodation, catering, pitch management and the evidence required for the official record attempt.

The event would not be possible without the support of its sponsors: JAECOO, FIJI Water, D3 Tape, IGH, Kennedy Renewables, Counter Ruck, NOCCO, Scimitar and fourfive. Catering throughout the event will be provided by Symphony Hospitality, a local catering company supporting the players, officials, volunteers and event team across the full 24-hour challenge.

Local residents can expect increased activity around the rugby club during the event, including additional visitors and vehicles, regular movement around the site, floodlighting and some match noise. As rugby will be played continuously, floodlights will remain in use overnight.

The organisers will do everything possible to minimise disruption, manage traffic responsibly and keep overnight noise to a reasonable level. Residents are asked to avoid parking near the entrances to the club so that emergency and event vehicles can access the site safely.

Spectators and local residents are warmly invited to visit, support the teams and experience this unique event. The main car park by the clubhouse will remain accessible to club and gym members throughout the event.

LooseHeadz and Sandbach RUFC are extremely grateful to the local community, sponsors, suppliers and volunteers for helping to make this ambitious event possible.
