The RFU CEO Bill Sweeney took time out of his busy schedule to visit Sandbach Rugby Club on Sunday. Bill spent time meeting Sandbach’s director of rugby, Andrew Bird, whilst enjoying the Cheshire Under 10s Festival, which was being staged at Bradwall Road.
Discussions touched on the community game, especially the club’s thriving rugby programme, which includes four senior men's teams, women's rugby, touch rugby, walking rugby and a mini, junior and girls section. They also spoke about the club’s development plans, which include padel courts and clubhouse extension and redevelopment.
A spokesperson said: “Sandbach Rugby Club were delighted to welcome Bill Sweeney to Bradwall Road and show him what this fantastic club has to offer. We hope that Bill enjoyed his visit and we look forward to welcoming back to the club again soon.”
The Cheshire Under 10s Festival included 45 teams and around 500 players, who participated in a amazing day of rugby.
