After weeks of inactivity due to the poor weather, the lads were chomping at the bit to take up the invitation from Leek. The weather gods did their best to finish the fixture off before it started but two hardy teams turned out on an appalling Sunday morning.
Leek's coaches were confident of a strong performance from their team and the Sandbach coaches were taking no chances by selecting a strong team. Before we began disaster struck with Max injured at Sale, Joe still out with his shoulder and Luke turning up late. No matter and a bit of team rearranging saw Elliot on the wing with J on the bench.
After losing the toss we were surprised that Leek selected to play against the wind and up the hill!? Leek caught the ball from the kick off but were immediately enveloped by the powerhouse Sandbach pack. The ball was turned over and the first of numerous tries ensued.
Leek defended valiantly but had no answers to the marauding team performance from Sandbach and with 7 minutes on the clock in the 2nd half, Leek decided enough was enough.
Onward and upward!
Our thanks to Leek for their hospitality.
