Sandbach U14 vs Northwich – 12th October 2014
"Back on the road again!"
Game 1: Northwich 7 – Sandbach 7
Game 2: Northwich 14 – Sandbach 0
As if nature were reminding us that we’re properly back in the rugby season, the U14’s first match of the season, away at Northwich, began in cold and foggy conditions.
With both teams appearing to be somewhat rusty after the summer break, the occasional passages of open play were a reminder of what the U14s are capable of – although it has to be said that “scrappy” was the order of play for the day.
In the first match, it was honours even with Sandbach scoring a try and converting in the first half, followed by Northwich doing exactly the same in the second half.
Try Scorer: Kyran Davies (1)
Conversion: Kyran Davies (1)
In the interest of providing all the members of the squad the opportunity to play, a second game of one half was also played, during which Northwich managed to take advantages of a couple of opportunities to score two tries, both of which were converted. Unfortunately, Sandbach were unable to repeat the heroics of the first half of the first game – and couldn’t take advantage of a number of solid passages of play.
Onwards and upwards – bring on Anselmians next week in the preliminary round of the Cheshire Cup!
