Bowdon v Sandbach 17 - 60 (HT 5 - 38)

From the off Sandbach made their intentions clear; to avenge their defeat in the Cheshire Shield and avenge they did. We saw another fantastic display of Rugby from the whole team. The addition of Joe Branson added another weapon to the Sandbach armoury and in his first competitive outing he showed strength and agility slicing his way through the Bowdon defence on more than one ocassion to score 3 tries and make another 2. Josh Brookes and Josh Elsby are combining well in the centre and their pace is telling as they take the ball deep and run it well into the Bowdon half where our forwards supported well and ensured ball retention at the ruck. On one attack Josh and Josh combined with Brookes passing the ball to Elsby who then passed back to Brookes to score. Tom Lea also distributed the ball quickly from the rucks not giving the Bowdon team time to regroup and our back line passed the ball wide to find the gaps to allow us to penetrate deep into the Bowdon half. This was definitely an all round performance.

The second half saw us allow Bowdon a glimmer of hope as we went to uncontested scums which allowed them to win ball and we gave away some penalties for showing some indiscipline and not getting back 10 after an infringement but overall we dominated the play and defended extremely well especially when they kicked long. We were able to gather the ball and run it straight back at them; on one occasion Jordan Ravenscroft gathered, evaded the chasing Bowdon pack to pass the ball to James Finucan who ran from the halfway line to score. We also saw the camaradary the team have when Josh Brookes who could have taken the ball over after Matt Reel had run into the Bowdon 22 from half way to selflessly passed the ball out to Alex Wardle. This was a great reward for the support Alex had shown and for his keeping up with the play which is no mean feet when you have Josh's pace.

Overall another fantastic performance taking it to two convincing wins out of two. Keep believing lads; you have shown you can do it! Keep it Up!
