The Junior Colts continued their run of form with a comfortable, but uninspiring victory over our neighbours from Winnington Park. Sandbach started the stronger and after an early penalty from Winnington, Ollie Nunn scored and converted his own try to take a 7-3 lead.
The rest of the first half seemed to be quite even but it was Winnington who took their opportunities to score twice. Just before half time a trademark jinking run from the fit again Matt Ward lead to a turnaround score of 15-14 to Winnington Park.
The second half was much of the same but Sandbach did manage to take the ascendancy without really setting the world on fire. Repeat tries from Nunn and Ward gave what appears a comfortable final scoreline but overall the Sandbach team will not be entirely pleased with their performance against a side who by league standings we should have beaten more comfortably. If Sandbach had been as fired up as Winnington Park then perhaps the score would have been more resounding.
Man of the Match goes to Lindsay Beeston who was there in spirit whilst achieving a commendable 1 hr 46 min in a Sunday morning half marathon.
Next week gives the lads a bit of a break before taking on Wigan at Bradwall Road on 7th December.
