Sandbach travel to Bridgnorth on Saturday, as they return to league action, following their Cheshire Cup exploits the previous weekend. Certainly, they will be looking to continue the impressive scoring ability they showed last time out but will also be keen to improve on the defensive display they showed at times. Experience has shown that the Edgar Davies Ground is never an easy place to get a result and though both sides recent league form has been mixed, games between the two teams are usually close. The EDG has been underwater recently, given its picturesque location adjacent to the River Severn, so hopefully the fine weather of the last few days has dried it out for an expansive game to be played. The Bach can expect the usual partisan crowd backing the home team and as they also have a Vice Presidents & Sponsors lunch beforehand, a lively atmosphere can be expected.
Sandbach are missing prop Monty Weatherby who is down in Jersey for the weekend to play in a friendly game, which is all part of his planned move during the summer to the Championship outfit. The Bach though welcome back Ross Sutherland following his recent introduction to fatherhood and back are also Nick Allsop, Alex Bishop and Joel Grout. 1st XV skipper Jimmy Gore will be keen for the boys in red and green to be up for the game, as they come out against his old colleagues. Discipline was an issue in the last match against Bridgnorth in November, with Sandbach playing the game with thirteen men at one time, so they will also need to keep their composure, if they are to come away from Shropshire with the spoils.
