Sandbach have had a challenging few weeks of recent, facing Sheffield and then Bournville in the league and despite good efforts and the games being closer than the score lines suggest, they were unable to beat the two leading teams. This week it gets no easier as 3rd place Bridgnorth come to Bradwall Road and after a slow start they too are really firing and have not lost in their last nine games. Sandbach drew at home against the Shropshire outfit last season, but did manage a hard-fought win away, nevertheless games between the two teams traditionally have always been close. 1ST XV Captain Jimmy Gore will be particularly keen to get the win, as he plays against his former teammates and I’m sure the boys will appreciate the home support getting behind the team, to help this happen.
There should be plenty of home support as the game is scheduled for a reunion of past players, where you will no doubt hear just how good they were, back in the day. Further Sandbach RUFC are supporting Silk FM’s Christmas toy appeal, where they ask everyone to buy one extra present to donate to them. They will then take them to all the charities in the local area and give presents to kids, who won't be getting one this year. We have set up a box in the clubhouse, where you can drop off a small present or make a donation. So, let’s get down to Bradwall Road with your Christmas Jumpers on, support the boys and make Christmas a little more special for those children who are less fortunate than you.
