Sandbach travel to Nuneaton on Saturday, looking to continue their good start to the league campaign, after a narrow win at home last weekend against Newport. Liberty Way can be a tricky ground, particularly when the conditions are inclement, but currently the game is scheduled to be played on the stadium pitch, subject to the weather. Nuneaton have had a decent start to the season themselves and lie fourth in the table, just a couple of places below Sandbach and they have also won the last three games. The Nuns had a change in structure over the summer with long serving player coach Huw Thomas leaving and Geraint Jones replacing him as Head Coach, after making the switch from South Leicester. This also involved several key players coming across the Leicestershire/Warwickshire border with him. One of note is fly half Rickie Aley, the left footed marksman registering an impressive 37 points against his former club recently and comes with an awesome reputation, having scored over three hundred points a couple of seasons ago at South. Accordingly, Sandbach will need to be careful not to concede penalties anywhere within range, in their own half.
Sandbach will go into the game with confidence though and there is certainly a buzz around the club at the moment, following recent performances. They know that when they are switched on, they are capable of getting a result against any team in the league, as they have proved on several occasions. The coaching team have a few selection challenges with Tom Poole and Ross Sutherland available after last weekend, while competition has been further heightened by the recent arrival of former Sale FC full back Jonny Edwards. Nick Allsop is however unavailable due to work commitments at Sale Sharks, so there will definitely be changes from the team that was successful last weekend. With the England game also on in the morning, expect a full day of enthralling rugby.
