It’s all set up for a great afternoon come Saturday, when local rivals Macclesfield come calling, in what looks to be an exciting match up. The game looks even more thrilling as both teams will be buoyant after fantastic victories on the road last weekend, against the 1st and 2nd in the league. Macc in particular showed real character to steal it at the death, at an always difficult venue on the AGP at Lymm. Bach too will be equally pleased, taking the spoils where the home team had not been beaten for three years and were perhaps promotion favourites, until last then.
Still plenty to play for therefore for both teams, as they look to finish the season strongly, the game being a rearranged one, the original fixture just before Christmas being postponed due to the weather. This game now falls on what normally is a free weekend and as a result both teams are missing a few, but are still expected to be reasonably strong. In the early season fixture back in September, Sandbach pinched it at the death, so Macclesfield will certainly be looking for revenge.
That day was Macc’s first outing under a new revamped coaching set up and their progress under Ben Wade and Darren Lamon has certainly been observed, with notable victories subsequently against the top two teams. Since then they have made a couple of additions to their squad, with players on loan from Sale FC, which has helped them, so they are likely to be somewhat different to the team Sandbach faced early in the campaign.
It will also be great to catch up with old adversaries and friends in the bar before and afterwards, whatever the outcome of the game and with Macc on a bus and the Wales v England match on later, a good afternoon of rugby should be guaranteed. As the Bach haven’t played at Bradwall Road for six weeks, they will be looking forward to home comforts and a big loyal local support to cheer them on. So get down to the club and enjoy the atmosphere of a local derby and a quality afternoon of entertaining rugby.
