Sandbach 1st XV play Wirral for the third time this season, when they make the trip across to the west side of Cheshire, to play at the Memorial Ground on Saturday. This is also a double header with the Saxons on the bus as well and the Thornton Hough based side will be keen to avenge the defeats they suffered, in the narrow defeat in the Cheshire Cup and respective league games back in October. Sandbach know they will be up against it as Wirral are traditionally strong at home and on a decent run of form, having beaten the much-fancied Rossendale last time out. So another tough test is envisaged.
Having only played a couple of games since early December, all teams may still be a little rusty at the moment and one can foresee a few problems in getting fixtures completed in time for the Pappa John’s Cup at the end of the season should any more be postponed. Certainly it will test squad depth and Sandbach will be hoping for a few more to return from injury and headcase protocols soon. Whether that will be this Saturday, we will have to see, but Sandbach are in reasonable form themselves at the moment and similarly have won the last four games. So someone’s winning run or both is going to be halted come Saturday, that is assuming there are no more weather issues.
