Sandbach play their last game of the season when they welcome York RUFC to their first ever visit to Bradwall Road on Saturday. York will travel with a degree of confidence having beaten Cleckheaton last weekend and will still have an outside chance of qualifying for the semi final of the Papa John’s Plate, but Stockport still look like the favourites at this stage for that spot. Sandbach have not had the success they may have hoped for in the competition but have still gained quite a bit of value from the recent fixtures. Missing several key players due to injury and availability, unlike many clubs, who pulled out during the pool stages, the coaching team saw it as an opportunity to blood younger players and gain experience in a very competitive national cup. Overall the players and coaching staff should be proud of what they have attained this season, with their highest league position at this level achieved and strong performances throughout the club. So despite still missing a few, let’s hope they can make one last big effort and come away with a win to finish the season off on a high.
Win or lose it will be a celebration with lots of things planned for after the game where it is arranged for a family friendly party later. Plans include free entry to the game, ice cream vans, bouncy castles, a pizza truck and music from DJ Jepo. Also after the game it will be the Players Awards with hopefully crates of Bach95 to wash the festivities down as well. So get down to support the lads and show them your appreciation for all their efforts over the season.
