Match Preview

Following on from a useful first pre-season workout against Fylde last week, Sandbach have another tough challenge, when Macclesfield arrive at Bradwall Road, for the Quarter Final of the Cheshire Cup. Macclesfield who were playing against Fylde last season in the National 2 North League, unfortunately suffered relegation in April, but no doubt will be expecting to bounce back immediately, given their pedigree of only recently playing at National 1 three seasons ago. Local derbies are never easy though and buoyed by a decent effort last week, the home side will still fancy their chances. No doubt a competitive encounter will be in store and perhaps give a bit of an indicator, as to what the season may hold for both clubs. It is however pre-season and a Bank Holiday weekend, so both teams may not quite be at full strength. Nonetheless, local bragging rights are at stake and with the weather set fair, an entertaining match is envisaged, before league rugby starts in two weeks’ time.
