Message from independent Manchester and District society referee Steve Vandersteen:
I’ve been to the Club at 0930 this morning and as it stands at the moment the pitch is unplayable, albeit definitely thawing. The current temperature is 4 degrees and there is a possibility that it could thaw further. However, given that your match official is coming from Newcastle, Rossendale have a distance to travel, and the pitch is currently unsafe to play a game of rugby then it is best to call the game off as there is no certainty that the pitch will be playable at 2.15pm. I hope you are ok with this assessment. Steve Vandersteen MADREFS.
