It is with great regret that we report the sad passing away yesterday of stalwart supporter, David Leake following a short illness. Dave first came involved during the late 60’s as though keen on football and motorbikes, he had many friends down at the then Old Sandbachians and would watch games and join in socially after. He was a reporter and journalist, for the local Chronicle and later the Evening Sentinel, before leaving the area to work in Gloucestershire.

Having later returned to South Cheshire he renewed his acquaintance with the club and it’s by then more senior members and regularly attended matches, both home and away. His support for the club also extended to his sponsoring the match ball, several times a season, as well as attending social functions through the years. Rest in Peace Dave, you will be missed.

For those who wish to attend Leakey’s funeral, it will be held at The Birches Remembrance Park & Crematorium, Lach Dennis, CW9 7SU, at 11.00 a.m. on Monday the 22nd of December. Then afterwards at Sandbach Rugby Union Football Club
