Believe it or not at Sandbach we are a little short on alikadoos ! For every first team game of the season, home or away, rugby has a tradition for a few members of the club to either host the opposition (home games) or be hosted (away games). Usually four to six people are invited for each game. For our home games the basic responsibilities are to host and talk to a handful of officials from the opposition, break bread with them and have a beer before and after the game.
If you want to volunteer to do more that's great, but the basics are literally to look after a few folks for a few hours. The away gig is even more simple, you let someone from the opposition do the same for you, though it may take a little more time due to travelling. As a club we have many distinguished members who could adopt the mantle of Alikadoo yet we struggle each week for numbers, especially away games, with often the same few doing the honours.
If you can help either just volunteer and send in your details on when you are or are not available, or if you are one of a small group and would like the group to be Sandbach for an afternoon let me know and a few of you can do a game together. If you get in quick you will likely have a choice of games and remember you don’t need to be old to be an alikadoo, you just need a passion for the club.
If you’re interested please contact me and we’ll see if we can get some games organised for you. chairman@sandbachrufc.co.uk
