When Albie, who plays for Sandbach Rugby’s Under 8s team, went on a school visit to a church, he and his family would never have expected that it would spark a desire for him to help those who are homeless. Albie noticed the belongings of a homeless person in a doorway and it prompted him to ask how he could help those less fortunate than he was.
Despite being too young to volunteer, Albie found out that he could make a difference. With the support of Chance Changing Lives - a charity whose mission is to battle homelessness and poverty, with hope, help and a hot meal - Albie was encouraged to bake some desserts and pastries for their Saturday kitchens. He also used his birthday money to put together bags of essential items for those who need them and delivered his first batch of donations and bakes on Saturday. Albie is already planning what to take when he visits the charity again on the 7th December and is encouraging his teammates and the rugby family to remember this worthy cause this winter.
Well done, Albie! To find out more about Chance Changing Lives visit https://www.chancechanginglives.org/.
Movember
Meanwhile, over twenty members of Sandbach’s senior men’s team are almost at the end of their Movember challenge. The players have grown moustaches in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes as they raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health. Movember is for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives and the message is simple: #ItsOkayNotToBeOkay.
Thank you to all who are taking part! To support them, visit https://movember.com/m/15183543?mc=1
