This week’s Midlands Premier league fixture sees Sandbach travel to Doncaster for the first time in the club’s history, to play at the Castle Park Stadium. Phoenix share the ground with Championship side Doncaster Knights and they are also at home, against League leaders Bristol, on Saturday. Accordingly, the Level Five fixture is a late 5.00 pm kick-off, under the stadium flood lights. Sandbach lost narrowly to the South Yorkshire outfit earlier in the season, but since then have been on a decent run, as new coaching regime and players bedded in, resulting in just the one loss since, at nearby Scunthorpe. From the earlier game Sandbach know that the opposition are a well organised outfit, with some lively threequarters, so will need to look after the ball better than last time and cut down on the errors.
Sandbach make a couple of changes with Chris Davenport unable to travel with his wife expecting their first child soon and winger Elliot Morris also unavailable. Sandbach though are able to welcome back Mike Egglestone and top try scorer Joe Jepps as replacements and having shaken off a bit of rust last week, should have a degree of confidence. As results have shown though, there is not much between any of the sides in this League, however Sandbach will certainly believe that they have the game to make amends for the earlier loss, if they perform at their best.
