Table toppers Birmingham & Solihull arrive at Bradwall Road this week, having continued their unbeaten league season last week, with a hard-fought home win against Peterborough Lions 22-17. Having already assembled a strong squad last season, the Bees have strengthened again this term, both on and off the field, that has seen them twelve points clear of their nearest challengers after a dozen games. The Portway based outfit have recruited Pete Glackin as Head Coach from Coventry and the close season also saw the arrival of strong running No 8 Umraan Jadwat from Nuneaton and winger Jone Nabetelevu from Longton amongst others. It will be Sandbach’s task to try to ensure they prevent Bees having a half season clean sweep.
Sandbach do however have a decent record against sides in the upper reaches of the league and have beaten the second and third placed sides already this season. Further, last year they also beat both the promoted teams at home, so they know they have the game to trouble anyone in the league, when they put it all together. Birmingham & Solihull have a reputation for starting quickly, so Sandbach need to ensure they are at it straight from the whistle and know from previous games that if they are still in touch with ten to go, they are always dangerous as team’s tire. The forecast for the weekend is cold and windy, so bring your coat and cheer the boys on.
