Saturday sees the visit of Nuneaton at the earlier kick off time of 2.15 pm, due to the clocks going back last Sunday morning. The fixture has been switched from away to home at Nuneaton’s request, so that it does not clash with Nuneaton Town’s football club’s game, with whom they share their ground at Liberty Way. As we have already swapped the Bournville fixture in September, this means we will have a surfeit of away fixtures in the second half of the campaign, so it is important Sandbach profit for the home advantage and build up momentum to see them through the season.
After a wobblily start to the league season, Nuneaton hit a bit of a run that included an impressive win away at the then unbeaten Newport, to win five in a row. This run was only halted last weekend, when they lost away at the high-flying Peterborough Lions, though there was little in it at half time, in a fast and physical game. Sandbach are also on a decent run of form and will be buoyed by the victory last Saturday against Newport, a team with like Nuneaton with ambitions of playing at the next level. Sandbach make a couple of changes due to availability and know that they will need to cut out a few errors and once more be at the top of their game, to ensure their winning run continues. Matches between Sandbach and Nuneaton are usually close, so expect another thriller.
