Having had a week’s break, Sandbach 1st XV return to action at the weekend for the visit of Bedford Athletic. Sandbach were left rather frustrated to come away with just a draw in the game a fortnight ago at Syston, when they perhaps didn’t quite have the rub of the green, but as results have shown all season, anybody can beat anybody in this league. With a number of teams around Sandbach also picking up points this saw Sandbach once more slide dangerously close to the relegation positions, so they will be looking for that vital win to give them a little bit of breathing space, for the season run in.
Bedford Athletic also find themselves struggling and reside second from bottom, but a look at their results illustrates just how fine the margins are in this league. Of the nineteen games they have lost this season, eleven times they have been within a seven-point score and this combined with a tidy backline, results in them having the most bonus points in the league. Sandbach know that they will need to be on top of their game and buoyed by an enthusiastic home support, will be looking for the all-important victory come the weekend.
