Following last week’s disappointing result, Sandbach have the chance to put things right, with a local derby against Longton this weekend. Both sides have been a little erratic in terms of form this season, with injuries disrupting either team’s ability to have a settled side out every Saturday. Historically Longton have played a driving forward based game, but of recent they have looked to become more expansive game with winger Sam Evans very much to the fore, as he has scored over 20 tries already this season. So Sandbach in particular will need to be aware of this threat. Early in season at Trentham Fields, Sandbach just managed to sneak it 22 v 26, when two Benny Elliot drop goals late in the game proved to be the difference. Sandbach will be looking for a similar result on their own patch, but know that whatever happens, it will be a keenly fought encounter. With local bragging rights and important league points at stake, to halt both sides recent slipping down the league table, expect another close game.
