Saturday sees the 1st XV start their league campaign at newly promoted Leek, as Tom Holmes’ squad look to get off to a winning start. Having advanced up the leagues over the last two seasons, the North Staffordshire outfit will be brimming in confidence and no doubt fancying their chances. Sandbach took a few knocks in their bruising encounter last weekend at Caldy, in the first round of the newly formatted Cheshire Cup but expect to have more familiar faces on the paddock come Saturday. It is however looking to be an even tougher league than last year, with plenty of sides recruiting strongly, so it will certainly be a challenge for the strictly amateur Bach boys. But as they have shown over the years, they are capable of matching anyone at this level on their day. So, let’s hope it’s one of those come Saturday.
Therefore whether you’re watching the boys over at Leek, or down at Bradwall Road supporting the Saxons and Stormers, bring the noise and get behind the lads, as they all look to put down a marker for the season.
