2009-2010 Season Review
After finishing 5th the year before Sandbach thirds under the (non-playing) leadership of Carey Prout Sandbach found themselves promoted to Division 3 West after a reorganisation in the Miller Leagues.
Sandbach were expecting are very tough season and as such were probably as surprised as anyone to find themselves top of the table at the end of October. One of the earlier games saw the side put a pleasing 50 points past Crewe's 2nd team.
Unfortunately during November the side lost their way a bit and slipped a few places down the table. This was caused partly by call ups to the second team and to be fair playing the better sides in the league away from home.
After the enforced break due to the weather we rallied and won 9 out of the last 10 games to finish a commendable third in the table. This period saw excellent reprisal wins against Sefton 2nds and Caldy 3rds along with a much improved performance against the eventual league winners Northwich 2nds. The final game of the season saw an excellent win against a strong Warrington 2nds side which rounded off the season nicely.
Overall the side was delighted with their performance over the season which was built round a large, experienced and settled pack. Players are already looking forward to the challenges of next season. Pembo was awarded player's player of the season and also took the club award for the most tries scored.
