3rd Team

Sandbach 27 - Warrington 19

Sat 24 September 2005

Another incredible team performance saw Sandbach 3rds win their fourth straight game. Unfortunately due to a hip flask full of Jack Daniels comforting my broken ribs on the sidelines this could be the shortest match report of all time.

Warrington fielded an impressive hard hitting team which Sandbach found difficult to break down. It took a huge hulkamaniac effort from every member of the team to dig deep and turn around certain defeat. That and the fact that Warrington finished the game with only 13 men. This was partly due to Dr Gash who when any Warrington player fell over he was quickly there saying “Its ok, I’m a doctor and in my professional opinion you’d be best to rest that leg sitting out the rest of the game on the sidelines”

Gash scored a stunning belly flop try along with his Centre partner dashing Dave Connolly who picked up two tries himself. Stuart Millward had a storming match and scored aswell along with second half substitute Gaz Jervis making the match safe with his last minute try.

Scouraging Jack Escourt played out of his skin at Flanker winning huge amounts of ball on the floor for the Sandbach pack to secure, and richly deserved this weeks Man of the Match! Colin Stent was snotted in a big way by the Warrington centre in the 2nd half but somehow managed to beat the ten count by getting up and carrying on with the game. His never say die attitude epitomises what this team has created so far this season.

A special thanks to Richard Pickford for taking over the captaincy for this game although its never pleasant to pull him off at half time!! Hope the knee’s better for next week brother! It was also nice to see Richard ‘Dott’ Cotton come out of retirement and bash people just the good old days

Man of the Match 1 Jack Escourt
2 Stuart Millward
3 Dott Cotton
