Not a classic match for Sandbach. Stoke unfortunately had only 14 men but showed great determination having come off a bad defeat the week before. Stoke started the game well and put Sandbach under pressure. Sandbach scored the first try after pulling the ball wide to the left and then switching play back, putting Steve Robinson in on the right wing. The second try came in the 16th minute with Sandbach pressuring the Stoke line, the ball came out to Tom Doubleday who looked to pass but drove himself over the line.
Sandbach showed poor discipline in the match, resulting in a penalty that Stoke converted in the 9th minute and then both Stoke and Sandbach having players shown the Yellow Card. The Sandbach backs took advantage of the extra space and Josh Longson ran in the first of his two tries.
Stoke started the second half strongly and had a try opportunity held up in the 4th minute before scoring through the forwards after 9 minutes. Sandbach responded with a well worked backs try that put Scott Hayward in under the posts. The game then entered a frustrating 20 minutes with Sandbach getting 'white line fever' when some basic team rugby was needed - as shown 32 minutes into the half when a simple ball out wide put Josh in for a second score.
With the game all but over, Adam Jenkins caught the restart and set up the ball that moved quickly out to Jack Calvert. Jack switched on the afterburners and ran three quarters of the pitch out stripping the Stoke defence.
Edmo was his usual self with 4 good conversions.
