Wilmslow 50 - Sandbach 125

Sun 15 November 2009
Sandbach won the toss and started the match but unfortunately stepped out of play & Wilmslow took possession & scored the 1st try. Once again Sandbach lost possession & Wilmslow scored against the run of play to go 2 nil up in the match. The 2 teams were evenly matched but both making errors by running out of play, Craig Orr got Sandbach off the mark with a try & a great run & try down the edge of the pitch by Harley Johnson saw Sandbach equalise just before half time.

The 2 teams started the second half much the same as the first, very evenly matched but Sandbach seemed to cope with the unmarked pitch better than Wilmslow & started to play better rugby with great team work, brilliant tagging & further try's from Dan Bains & Luke Thomas Sandbach edged the home side out eventually winning the match 25 - 30.

The second match was a complete turn around from the start, Sandbach again had the combination of team work, superb tagging & great try's, soon opened up a big lead over the home team with inspirational play from Max Raynor who snatched possession & scored 6 try's, other team players including Calum McOrrmick, Dan Bains, Jamie Crampton, Harley Johnson & Luke Thomas also waded in with try's. Finally out playing Wilmslow beating them 15 - 60.

The third game was a little more evenly matched to start with, with good team play from both sides, the home team playing 6 players who had not played in the previous matches, Sandbach's 6 players soon got into the game and again opened up a good lead. Congratulations to James Antrobus who scored his 1st try for Sandbach also on the score sheet were Jamie Crampton, Luke Thomas, Max Raynor & Harley Johnson. Again great all round play from Sandbach, team work, tagging & try's (on a difficult pitch), defensively great leaving a player on each wing to cover each side & attack, superb with speed down the wings  & weaving side steps through the middle of the pitch, coming home winners 10 - 35.

Overall score over 3 games Wilmslow 50  Sandbach 125.

Welcome everyone to the new season - aren’t the grounds looking fantastic! Well done to Club Groundsman Richard Vaughan and Jon Stubbs for their hard work in the close season; the pitches look to be in tip-top condition. In addition, the building work is coming along nicely and the roof should be on soon and we hope to weather-tight shortly after that. The porch has been built and awaits finishing off, but we still need you to buy more bricks, so that we can put them up on the block wall by the main entrance. A news item has been posted on the website rounding up last season and previewing the season to come - please do have a look.

Buy-a-Brick –

We are close to being able to produce our first sponsored bricks , if you would like to be part of history please contact Rob Mayor NOW! We have so far raised over £3000 against our target of £10,000.

Your name on a brick in the Club forever! As part of the development plan, we are raising funds by selling named bricks that will be incorporated into the proposed porch/foyer area. Personalised bricks are available at just £100 each, with all funds going directly towards the redevelopment – not bad for a permanent mark or tribute! Please contact your team manager or me and please support your Club in our efforts to improve the clubhouse.

Finally, you may have heard of Utility Warehouse, the "one stop shop" for all your utilities. Not only are you likely to save money on those essential needs, such as electricity, gas, telephone, internet and mobile, but Sandbach RUFC receive an additional monetary benefit for each member who signs up and everytime a bill is paid.
