Sandbach 11 - Northwich 16 |

Sat 30 January 2010
After a good away win at New Brighton last week, Sandbach again started brightly as Ally Burton was judged to have knocked the ball on over the Northwich line with in the first 3 minutes. It wasn't long before the dominant home team did get some points on the board, when Will Cargill neatly kicked a drop goal after good forward play, this was quickly followed by a penalty from Cargill. However, against the run of play Northwich replied with a breakaway try from a turned over scrum in their own 22. Sandbach responded well with Jack Leech running in his second try of the season, but Northwich were quick to punish a couple of missed mid-field tackles, as Chris Dale crashed over, meaning the home team went in 11-10 at the break. The second half saw battling defensive performances from both teams, but as Sandbach failed to capitalise after long periods camped on the Northwich line, it was the second placed away team that came away with the honours with a penalty and drop goal sealing victory for them. Sandbach's Jack Seddon quite rightly took the man of the match award, as the young back row, continues to improve game from game.
