Under 13

Shrewsbury 17 - Sandbach 29 Sun 10 March 2002 On a cold windy day Sandbach Under 13's travelled to Shrewsbury for our first ever visit, we found a very wide and long pitch which should have suited our style of play, but the strong wind put paid to any chance of flowing rugby. In the first half Sandbach gained control and our forwards produced good ball for the backs to put Sam Sherratt into space who duly touched down in the corner. Further Sandbach tries followed from Liegh Wardle, Nick Cooper and Eddie Taylor. However after this bright start Sandbach went to sleep and through poor tackling and lack of committment Shrewsbury scored two first half tries of their own. Half Time score: Shrewsbury 12 - Sandbach 24. In the second half Sandbach made a few changes and the game became more even with both sides scoring one more try a piece. The Sandbach try scorer being Liegh Wardle. Final Score: Shrewsbury 17 - Sandbach 29 A srappy game with Sandbach only showing in glimpes what good rugby we can play when we concentrate.
