Mulingar 7 - Sandbach 28 |

Sat 29 March 2003
Sandbach on Tour in Ireland to watch the last Six Nation Championship match of the season, arrived at Mulingar RFC at 11.00 am on Saturday morning, after coming over on the high speed supercat the previous day.
Sandbach started the game a little sluggeishly but as the game wore, they managed to regain some of their sparkle. Mulingar were the first on the score sheet as they scored a converted try.
It was in the set pieces that Sandbach struggled, being disrupted in the srummaging but being totally confounded in the lineouts as Mulingar delayed the lineout, catching the Sandbach pack out time and time again.
Sandbach then led a series of attacks, Tom Hughes showing some fancy footwork to release Dan Massey who showed the Mulingar backs a clean pair of heels, for the first of his brace of tries.
There were some great breaks especially by Will Rees who did not have the legs to go all the way, this was left to Tim Jones who in the second half ran three quarters of the pitch to score.
The Sandbach forwards threw themselves into everything, especially Aarran Cushnie, and Tim Oakes who put in some cracking tackles, one a kin to that by Johnny Wilkinson the next day.
The next Sandbach player to cross the whitewash was South African scrum half Dave Kerr, as with the rest of the tries this was converted by Tom Hughes.
