Playing Status
Sandbach have committed to retain amateur status, drawing nearly all of the current 1stXV squad from mini-junior ranks and we were very pleased to be able to achieve our aim of being the best performing strictly amateur Club in Cheshire last season, finishing joint fourth in North 2 West.

Sponsorship
I am very pleased to announce that Colin Plant Engineering (CPE) will be the club’s main sponsor over the next 5 years. This new support for the club has been warmly welcomed.

Club Development
It has been agreed at Committee to source funding and proceed with the Club Development plans. This has been exacerbated in some respect by the rapidly deteriorating condition of the kitchen & dining area porta-cabins. To this end, we have decided to close the kitchen facilities with immediate effect and the porta-cabins shall be removed shortly for groundworks to commence. That means that catering facilities shall be extremely limited for the forseeable future, for which we apologise.

Buy-a-Brick – your name on a brick in the Club forever! As part of the development plan, we are raising funds by selling named bricks that will be incorporated into the proposed porch/foyer area. Personalised bricks are available at just £100 each, with all funds going directly towards the redevelopment – not bad for a permanent mark or tribute! Please contact your team manager or me and please support your Club in our efforts to improve the clubhouse.

1stXV Lift Cheshire Vase - 2007/08
Sandbach capped their season by winning the Cheshire vase, beating local rivals Northwich 10-7 in a tense match at Winnington Park on 5th May.

Alex Reay scored the try, Will Cargill picked up the extras with the boot and Sandbach No10 Ali Burton was named as man of the Match to crown a really excellent season for the whole Club.

As newcomers to North 2 West, the committedly amateur Sandbach club exceeded expectation by finishing joint fourth in a very competitive semi-professional league. Well done to all concerned!

UNDER 18 INTERNATIONAL HONOURS FOR SANDBACH RUFC
We were delighted when four Sandbach Colts were selected to represent their countries in the Under 18 Six Nations tournament in Cork.
England won all their matches to take the 'Grand Slam'. James Gaskell, Lee Imiolek and Tom Holmes were selected in the England squad and Ross Sutherland was selected for Scotland. Scotland played England on 1st April at Musgrave Park and all four players played in a 32-5 victory for England. This was a fantastic achievement and all players are congratulated.

Since then, Gaskell, Holmes and Imiolek have gone on to the successful England U18 tour to Argentina over the summer and gaskell has been provisionally selected for the England U20 squad for the World Cup in 2009.
