Announcement |
The Club is in the early stages of a lottery bid to Sport England to enhance and develop our facilities, which when completed, will make Sandbach RUFC one of the best sporting venues in the county.
Following on from the good work from Stuart Battersby in developing a strategic plan and completing a club members questionnaire to endorse this plan we have formed a lottery planning group to drive this forward into the application/planning stage. This committee initially consists of;
Phil Bell (Bid Application and Planning co-ordinator)
Andy Maddock/Stuart Battersby/Jack McEvoy (establish links with supporting organisations, e.g. local council, schools, Cheshire RFU)
John Haywood/Andy Maddock (liase with contractors, builders, building plans etc.)
Andy Smallman/Julian Spears (financial planning and co-ordinate additional sources of funding. Important as Sport England will only fund 65% of the total capital cost.)
The application if successful will be used to;
1. Clubhouse improvements which will provide;
i) enlarged and completely refurbished clubhouse allowing the removal of the existing portacabins
ii) a pitched roof to the enlarged clubhouse to provide storage space and possible upwards extension in the future
iii) improved and enlarged changing rooms and showers
iv) improved changing facilities for referees ? male and female
v) separate female changing facilities - in line with one of our strategic aims to re-establish ladies rugby.
2. Car-park, permanent surface and mark out
3. Third pitch, Improve and provide drainage
4. Training Floodlights, extend to the other touchline (to be agreed)
Within the next few weeks plans of the proposed enlarged clubhouse will be agreed and available for all to view on a notice board within the club where we plan to post on-going news of our progress.
Due to the long application and approval process the target date for completion of all work will be for the start of the 2004-2005 season.
These are exciting times for the club and we plan to develop facilities which will be the envy of all who visit Bradwall Road. To do this we need the help of everyone who can and is willing to assist the planning group, we cannot do this alone. We particularly would like to hear from members who have;
a) knowledge and/or experience of such as similar projects or lottery bids
b) any useful contacts with local organisations who would support our bid
c) funding ideas or knowledge of organisations we could apply for assistance in addition to Sport England.
So if you feel you can help in any of the areas listed above then please contact the appropriate person on the planning group or myself.
