Unsportsmanlike Conduct Charge

6 Weeks I reckon
- Ali Burton 1XV Openside

Citing of Sandbach U14 Scrum Half - George Cole

Date of Incident: 1st March 2015 Location: Telford Hornets RFC
Match: Telford Hornets U14s v Sandbach U14s

Statement From Telford Hornets official:

Please find attached photo from yesterday’s game which was a potential yellow card situation. It obviously shows the Telford 9 firstly going past the tunnel which cannot happen at under 14s and then actually going past the ball which is not allowed at any age group. However, the referee’s view of this was obviously obscured by the devious Sandbach 9 who deliberately stood in front of the Telford player. Therefore I think the referee missed an opportunity of issuing the Sandbach 9 with a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct. Signed: M. McGrath – 02/02/15

Statement from the match referee:
Never in my history as a ref have I seen such deliberate unsportsmanlike conduct. I know as refs we now have the ability to issue yellow and red cards however, I have refereed the game for a number of years and this is the most onerous instance of unsportsmanlike conduct I have ever witnessed. I personally think the actions of the Sandbach 9 were such that the only appropriate punishment would be for him to be hung drawn and quartered. Signed: Caring Ref Bob 02/03/15

Whilst there is no wish to involve the constituent body at this stage, for the good of the player, and in the earnest hope that he will understand and repent his actions, Telford RUFC formally requests that the Sandbach U14 scrum half, George Cole be asked to appear before a club disciplinary panel charged with “Bad behaviour and an act or acts detrimental to the good name and standing of Sandbach RUFC.”
