Leech, Bees, Nizza and Forbes all play

Despite being the end of the Club Season, Sandbach players were in action again at the weekend as four of them represented the senior Cheshire team versus Yorkshire.

Sandbach provided four players to the victorious Senior Cheshire team that beat Yorkshire 25-19 on Saturday at Doncaster. Forbes Edwards was among the Cheshire try scorers.

Having lost narrowly the previous week to Lancashire, Cheshire still have a chance to make the Championship final at Twickenham at the end of May. But they must beat Durham and hope that Yorkshire can win against Lancs which will then bring it down to points difference.

Having four players represent the County is a huge achievement and honour for Sandbach and illustrates the massive strides taken in senior player development at all levels in the club. This season especially, under coaches Pete Allen and Scott Barrow, the skill and performance levels of all senior players has developed massively. Rich Cannon and Tom Rhoden-Farmer joined Sandbach in August 2014 from Level 12 club Acton Nomads and by the end of the season had made their 1st Team debuts at Level 5. At the elite level, Jack Leech, Forbes Edwards and Nick Allsop have all progressed tremendously as their Cheshire debuts have confirmed. Matt Beesley has gone even further and is now playing at Level 3 for Wharfedale.

Pad Davenport, Director of Rugby at Sandbach said, “Whilst we are a strictly amateur club we are able to offer players of all abilities the facilities, coaching and camaraderie to maximise their potential and enjoyment of our game. We have proven that our system works and any player at any level who has ambitions to improve their rugby and challenge themselves to reach their true potential should seriously think about joining Sandbach. If you are serious about your rugby and want to see dramatic improvements in skills and fitness then we’d love to hear from you.” Pad Davenport may be contacted in confidence on 07729 783554
