Best Wishes sent and club shirt presented to injured player

On Tuesday this week I visited Kieran Flynn who is currently in the spinal injuries unit at Oswestry Orthopaedic

Until this summer, Kieran was a hard hitting centre at our local rival club Crewe and Nantwich. Unfortunately in a pre-season warm up game Kieran was badly injured in a tackle and was taken for emergency treatment at North Staffs Hospital. It soon became clear that Kieran had broken his neck in several places and he would have to reassess his own life objectives with an immediate end to his playing career.

Three months down the line Kieran is looking forward to the next stage of his rehabilitation when he leaves the hospital. He currently has no feeling at all below his waist and it does look like he will be confined to a wheelchair. Kieran is thankfully through the passage of time and physiotherapy getting back the use if his upper body and arms. He still follows his rugby and although no one would blame him if he did, he does not hold any grudge against the game, accepting it was ‘one of those things’ He is now looking forward to getting home and planning his return to Liverpool University next year where he intends to complete the final year of his degree course in Law.

Kieran is to a greater extent reliant on his laptop and would welcome any messages of support. He can be contacted on flynny_lfc@hotmail.com or twitter @KieFlynn

The photo shows Kieran trying to look pleased with the Sandbach shirt that I presented to him, I should imagine it has been burnt by now!

Everyone at the club wishes Kieran all the best for the future and look forward to hearing of his continued rehabilitation.
